Larry
Human parent: John Lukens
Border Collie and Terrier mix rescue.
He’s named after the great comedian Larry David of Seinfeld fame and Larry “Legend” Bird of the Celtics. He has survived both a rattlesnake bite and growing up with two unruly boys. He is lazy and loves his family fiercely.
Lucy and Sirius
Human parent: Addie Walsh
Sirius (Tabby, left) and Lucy (Calico, right).
Lucy and Sirius have the best life. Lucy's favorite activities include sleeping on the cat tree, tearing up the carpet, scratching the leather furniture, and giving the evil eye to strangers. When Sirius is not screaming for more food, he loves to play fetch with springs, chase shoelaces, and cuddle on the couch. Both cats also enjoy hanging out with their favorite cat sitters, Kristine and Lexi. Addie and Finance John absolutely adore them and buy them way too many toys.
Magic
Human parent: Lexi Johnson’s mom, Denise
Golden Retriever
Magic was adopted as a COVID puppy in the spring of 2020. She continues to be the center of attention and, debatably, the favorite child of the Johnson family. This needy girl loves running around in the snow and relaxing by the pool. Magic happily vocalizes when she requires more pets and the leftover ice cream in everyone’s bowl.
Tabitha
Human parent: Emily Oatman
Tabitha was adopted in 2019 and enjoys squirrel watching, boxes, long naps, and fashionable bandanas. She is a bit of a tin-foil hat conspiracy theorist at times, but she isn’t judged for it. While tossed in the deep end providing emotional support to grad students who visit her, she has learned to tolerate her new role in exchange for treats.
Daniel P. Jones
Human parent: John Lukens
Dan lived in John’s basement following college and asked to be included on the lab website in the pet section. Dan is now a real estate development executive and the President of the Richmond Division at East West Communities, the nationally recognized master-planned community developer based in Virginia. He joined East West early in his career and has risen through leadership positions, shaping major housing and community projects throughout the Richmond region over nearly two decades.
