Celia McKee publishes in Frontiers in Immunology
Celia published a review in Frontiers in Immunology chronicling the relevance of immune cell and signaling pathways in the long-term cognitive outcomes of patients suffering a traumatic brain injury.

John Lukens selected for editorial board
John was selected to participate on the editorial board for the journal Brain, Behavior, and Immunity.

Lab receives Annette Lightner Research Award!
The lab received an Annette Lightner Research Award to support a project ascertaining the role of dendritic cell-mediated SYK signaling in the development of multiple sclerosis and how this pathway may be manipulated to provide novel MS treatment options.

Nature Medicine Published Paper!
Elizabeth and John published “The brain’s reward circuitry regulates immunity” in Nature Medicine’s News and Views section, a review explaining recent findings that further demonstrate how psychological health and physical health are intertwined.


UVA Seed Grant Awarded
The lab was awarded a University of Virginia Research and Development seed grant to explore how dysregulated IL-1 production contributes to traumatic brain injury.

Hutcheson Undergraduate Fellowship Award

John was selected as a Hartwell Investigator and received an individual Biomedical Research Award from the Hartwell Foundation for his proposal entitled: “Targeting the Interplay between the Immune System and Microbiota in Autism Spectrum Disorder.”
