Turning up the heat with our Summer Spirit Week!
In the Lukens lab’s most recent attempt to be the coolest/wackiest lab in the BIG center, all members went all out during the return of our lab spirit week.
The themes during this summer rendition of the high school-inspired spirit week ranged from classic to hair-raising.
Day 1: College/Sports Day
Wear fan gear related to your high school, college, grad school, favorite sports team, etc. No VT items allowed.
Day 2: Pajama Day
No explanation needed. We had to bring this crowd-pleaser back for round two.
Day 3: Secret Identity Swap Day
Idea from the great mind of Abhi! In the style of Secret Santa, everyone will draw the name of another lab member. You will then dress like that person for the day. All swapped identities will be kept entirely secret until the day of the swap in which you will be tasked with finding out who stole your identity.

Day 4: Dress Like Your Project Day
Idea from the great mind of Jess! Outfit yourself as something related to your project in the lab or your favorite science topic. For example: Ashley studies aging meningeal lymphatics and could dress like a grandparent, or a sewage drain.
Day 5: Wacky Hair Day (Dress As Your Favorite Bald Person Day)
As advertised: “Go crazy with your hair! Wigs are allowed and encouraged. There will be a hair product exchange taking place so bring your favorite Costco shampoo, perm curl cream, etc if you would like to participate.”
In the spirit of last spirit week’s secret “Dress Like John Day” in which we pranked John, this was not actually wacky hair day. Indeed, it was again a prank on John in which everyone secretly dressed as their favorite bald person.
