Congratulations to Lexi Johnson, who won a Shark Tank-style competition for research funds hosted by the neurodegenerative disease research coalition (NDRC) at UVA.
Lexi submitted a grant which was reviewed by faculty and then defended her proposal in 7-10 min pitch in front of the sharks (postdocs and faculty). Her proposal was titled “Seq’ing SYK’s Effect on the Broad Immune Landscape in the Tauopathy Brain”. Lexi was one of three trainees to win over the sharks and be granted $8,000 for research, plus a remarkable commemorative certificate.
