John selected as the inaugural Director of Harrison Family Translational Research Center

The new center will hone UVA’s vast base of experts to launch a cutting-edge research program with a goal of developing new treatments for Alzheimer’s and related neurodegenerative disorders.

The center is made possible by an incredibly generous $30 million gift from David and Mary Harrison and will be housed in the new Paul and Diane Manning Institute of Biotechnology. The center will harness expertise from across the university, linking the UVA Brain Institute, which encompasses all of UVA’s neurological research, with the Manning Institute.

The lab celebrated John’s new appointment with an ice cream potluck party and champagne 🎉🍦🍾
