Kristine grew up in Wauconda, Illinois and graduated in 2019 from Bates College with a B.S. in Neuroscience. Her undergraduate research was focused on understanding the role of the TET enzymes, which regulate active DNA demethylation, in learning and memory processes. Kristine joined the Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP) at UVA and the Lukens lab in 2020, where she pursued her thesis research on the impact of maternal environmental stressors on placental physiology and offspring neurodevelopment. She also investigates functions of inflammasome signaling in the adult brain. Kristine finished her PhD in Neuroscience in 2023 and is currently continuing her research in the Lukens lab as a postdoc. Beyond lab life, Kristine lives in a continuous cycle of baking and running/biking/climbing with her c’ville homies.
